SINGAPORE – Entertainment company mm2 Asia announced on Thursday (Nov 2) it has entered into an option agreement to acquire all of Cathay Cineplexes’ Singapore cinema operations, with the acquisition targeted to close on Nov 24..

The cinema of Malaysia consists of feature films produced in Malaysia, shot in the languages of Malay, Chinese and Tamil.. Malaysia produces about 20 feature films annually, and between 300–400 television dramas and serials a year apart from the in-house productions by the individual television stations.

History. The first cinema in Malaysia was the Coliseum Theatre in Kuala Lumpur in 1928. However, it ceased operations in 2010 and transformed into a cultural centre. In 2012, Lotus Five Star reopened the cinema with two digital halls.
