Baptism Paedobaptism, Affusion, Aspersion, Pædobaptism General Information. Baptism is a Sacrament of the Christian church in which candidates are immersed in water or water is poured over them in the name of the man, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Water Baptism at Christ Church is held quarterly throughout the year. Our next Water Baptism is June 24, 2018 @ 5pm at the East Campus (Montclair).

The day before baptism, there is a special session at which candidates have a final opportunity to change their minds. During the ceremony itself (which takes place after the two sermons of a standard church service) the candidate kneels and the bishop asks questions about the individual’s commitment to living a Christian life and to the church.
